The winners of the Luxury Tourism Awards have been announced at Hotel Splendide Royal in Lugano

On the night of the 17th of April, by the prestigious Hotel Splendide Royal, on the shores of the Lake of Lugano, MeetingLuxury Exhibition Manager, Ms Benedetta Canossi, has announced the winners of the Luxury Tourism Awards 2009 edition.

The delegates of the participating destinations have received “the Golden Peacock” directly by the members of the jury composed by Professor Rico Maggi, Vice Dean of the University of Lugano and Director of the Mester in International Tourism, Ms  Flavia St. Clair, President of Exclusive Travel Canada, Mr Danilo Pomes, Responsible of Raro Viaggi Italy.

The winner of the category “Luxury Naturalistic Destinations” is:
Northern Cape Province 

The winner of the category “Luxury Entertainment Destinations” is:
Cape Town Tourism

The winner of the category “Luxury Seaside Destinations” is:
Sultanate of Oman

The hotels awarded in the category “Luxury Hotel” have been:
Tombolo Talasso Resort as luxury spa hotel
L’Albergo della Regina Isabella as luxury spa hotel
Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria as luxury beach hotel
Colonna Beach Hotel and Resort as luxury beach hotel

Other important personalities have joined the event: official authorities of the City of Lugano, Mr Paolo Beltraminelli and Ms Bettina Stark, responsible for the Public Relations of the City, Mr Alessandro Strazzanti, President of Promax communication, UBS Bank delegates, journalists and Media Partners and other celebrities of the luxury travel market sector.
